Iowa credit union's Patrick Jury forges national reputation

Iowa accounts for only about 1 percent of the 96 million consumers who patronize U.S. credit unions, but the state has developed an outsized national reputation under the leadership of Patrick Jury.

The Des Moines native, who has led the Iowa Credit Union League since 2006, has developed a for-profit services group to support the state’s 116 credit unions with everything from electronic transaction processing to tapping the underserved Hispanic market. The Affiliates Management Co. has become so successful since its formation in 2008 that its four operating companies now provide specialized services to credit unions across the U.S and Canada.

Annual revenue at Affiliates has doubled to more than $100 million the past five years, according to Jury.
